What is AYUSH

Before starting any Graduate/PG course or undertake the admissions, the colleges need to get prior permission from Dept. of AYUSH, Union Govt. Of India. The Ministry of AYUSH was formed in 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) systems of health care, with focused attention on Education and Research.

What is CCIM

The ayurveda colleges are following the minimum standards of education, Curricula and Syllabii, as prescribed by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). They also offer recommendation to Government of India on proposal received from various institutes for establishment of new colleges, increase intake capacity in Under-graduate, Post-graduate and to start new or additional subjects.

University Affiliation

To maintain uniformity in the syllabus and curriculum across the country, the Graduate courses are being conducted only in Ayurvedic Medical Colleges affiliated to universities. 5½ years (4½ year main course + 1 year Internship) Degree course leading to Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) Ayurvedacharya is being conducted throughout the country under IMCC Act, 1970.
