Aroor Laxminarayana Rao Memorial Ayurvedic Medical College and PG (Post graduation) Center popularly known as ALN Rao ayurvedic medical college was established in the year 1987 by Sri Aroor Ramesh Rao under Aroor Educational Trust (R).

The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Bangalore, Karnataka and is recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi, Govt of Karnataka and Department of Ayush.

The college offers a B.A.M.S Course which has a total intake of 60 students per year, the course lasts for 5 1/2 years. It also provides Post Graduation courses in 3 specializations, Dravyaguna (Pharmacognosy) – 6 Seats, Bhaishajya Kalpana (Pharmacy) – 5 Seats, Kaya Chikitsa (General Medicine) – 5 Seats

Herbal garden

Over 1700 different species of medicinal plants are cultivated in an extensive area of 7.5 acres making it the college with one of the biggest herbal gardens in India, Taking advantage of the favourable conditions (western ghats), medicinal plants that are on the verge of extinction are cultivated.

Hospital

ALN Rao ayurvedic medical college has 125 bedded Ayurvedic Hospital at Quardhitlow estate of koppa town and a separate Aids Community Centre of 10 beds which provides free of cost treatments. Three O.P.D units in Thirthahalli, Sringeri & at the heart of Koppa Town have been established to serve the needy people in these areas.

Library

The library is digitalized and is well stocked with national and international journals, periodicals and reference books. The available Computer and internet facilities help the students to stay updated.

The college has facilities like Museum, Laboratories, Dissection Theater & Audio Visual Unit. It also provides facilities for sports and other extracurricular activities.
